Thanks doc! I don’t think I have any other symptoms, so I’m hoping it’s just regular male balding. Sad, but what can I do. I’ll definitely try to see a derm pronto. I think some people actually recommended a medication I can spray on my head? Do you know anything about that and if it’s safe? Any weird side effects?

Hello there! The two most likely diagnoses given your clinical presentation are androgenetic alopecia and telogen effluvium and these commonly coexist. The pattern of hair loss on exam is the key distinguishing feature. However there are few cannot-miss diagnoses which include, systemic lupus erythematosus which can cause diffuse non-scarring or scarring alopecia; consider if there are systemic symptoms (joint pain, rash, oral ulcers) or occult systemic illness or malignancy. I recommend you see a dermatologist for your concerns.
